Board Meeting Minutes - June 1, 2007
Old Business:Business meeting called to order by President, Christing Weigle at 4:00 PM.
Roll was called by Lorraine Pollock, Recording Secretary. All Officers, Directors and Scholarship House Liaisons were present or represented except Kristin Guenthardt and Rachel Sieg. See attached Roll Call sheet.
The Treasurer?s Report as of May 31, 2007 was distributed, reviewed and filed for audit.
Scholarship House reports were given by Ginny Aries and UCF Students for UCF, and Anne Price and FSU Students for FSU. Report of the FAU Liaison will be presented at the Dinner.
Report on St. Pete College House was presented by Christine Weigle. Some of the highlights were that the St. Pete College Foundation is gifting the land for the Scholarship house. It will be a green building i.e. it will be built to conserve energy and blend with the environment. There have been commitments from local contractors in the St. Pete area to donate time to build the house. The estimated cost is $1 million.
New Business:Some funding alternatives to support the Scholarship houses were presented by Board Member Elaine Kaufman.
By-laws changes were presented by 1st VP Carolyn Wiggins. Director Cynthia Ramirez moved the By-laws changes be accepted as printed. Director Laura Eckert seconded the motion. The vote was 24 for and 12 opposed. The required 2/3 vote was obtained and the By-laws changes were adopted.
Director Laura Eckert encouraged members to go to the Education Foundation website http://www.educationfoundationbpwfl.org and see what was there.
2nd VP Audrey Sheekey requested that each Local Organization send her their Education Foundation contact information.
Nominations were presented by Anita Shade, Nominations Chair. There was a single slate of candidates.
